I love AJ's form, but I never meant for it to be anything but a base. She seems to love her form though.
Avatar
And that's ok.
Avatar
Yeah I know there are a decent few here, but I don't think it is representative enough compared to the last census, which showed 35% of Tulpa were completely human, and 30-35% were pony.

(I forget the exact pony percentage)

@Ivy link me to this census

I'm only slightly disturbed because of the chance of a form legitimately standing between a personality and any meaningful progress.

When it comes to people's preferences as they are expressed through a tulpa, it is sometimes the case that the visualization takes top priority while the person takes a lower priority. The result is a tulpa that might develop into a more well rounded person after years of the host making sure they're imposing the wrinkles in their purple bow in their hair correctly and the 30th outfit has been created.
11:58 AM
Not that there's anything wrong with working on imposition at all, just when it takes so much of a priority that it would be taking away from self-development and this sort of thing.

Eh I don't have to worry about that with AJ, she's developing just fine and her form is, well, frankly kind of rough. I have a rough idea, and part of the point of choosing a pre-done form was to make form easy which it has. She has her own form sort of now and she's even got her own name which I'll change too when my boy Robert from Houston adds me
Avatar
I don't understand the reassurance you are trying to say. I mean, any name given to a tulpa is just that, a name.
12:40 PM
Tulpas can even choose their own names if they find it to be a problem, so I don't think names are a big problem.
12:41 PM
Neither is form, as if a tulpa doesn't want one form or another they can decide what they look like on some level or decide to avoid taking form at all.
12:41 PM
My only-- well, the only issue I see is precisely when the tulpa and the host end up with an extreme focus on form and visualization to the detriment of any personality development or self improvement.
12:42 PM
If that's not the case for you, that's fine. But when people put an extreme focus on the form, I still get a bit concerned.
Avatar
I dunno, at the start, and I mean pre imposition... Its still attention, which as we know is incredibly important for a level 0 tupp.
12:45 PM
I mean pre vocalization
12:45 PM
I'm super distracted
12:48 PM
And about names, its more about distancing AJ (nor Abby, at least we are trying it out) away from her base. Form I don't care about, name too, she says shes impartial on Abby, but wants to be her own person so Abby it is!
12:48 PM
Oof need to update it then
12:49 PM
Now I know I come off as a self centered individual at the moment, ant that is entirely correct, but the point I am trying to make is that most of these changes are symbolic to people.
Avatar
If names are a big issue, then it's okay to have multiple names. Cat technically has 3 names, Cat here, Gray in the wonderland, and her real name. One time she wanted to give me credit in her personal math notes so she asked if she could call me Roger in the notes (since there are not many people named Ranger). (edited)
Avatar
And don't worry about making progress in other areas. Feel free to experiment, however posession, switching and imposition should not be your focus. Make sure Abbey/AJ is comfortable first and then gently move into those other things.
Avatar
does anyone know of something like a tulpa text based game that? I played game called "my very own lith" and I wound up thinking about the main character almost like a tulpa, but it made me think that a game like that could help somehow
Avatar
it could work with descriptors that you fill in to define how you and your tulpa look, so "you look (up/down) at (tulpa's name/names) you see can see in theirs (eye/eye's) that they're excited" but to be fair this could be done as some sort of rollplay journal that a text based game with set actions and stuff but I think it would still be cool
Avatar
It would kind of be a sort of parroting or puppeting I guess. I know I would probably be a little uncomfortable with the idea of having an entire story where I took the place of a character inside it and was made to interact or respond in ways that were dictated and not emergent from any idea of my personality.
Avatar
well one nice about it being so simple is you could write in your own responce of what you/your tulpa would do and could even share it online (edited)
Avatar
So a pet simulator but the pet is a human? I guess some Tuppers are based or inspired from inanimate objects (such as stuffed animals or famous characters), but I personally would feel weird to have my face on a simulator game...?
Avatar
more multiplayer choose your own adventure that could work as a form of forcing, I mean there's only so many options you could have, your tulpa could have choices just as you do when you write or say stuff for them when you don't have possession figured out(I forget the name) (edited)
Avatar
I see, maybe there's enough commonalities between the normal tulpa that a choose your own adventure could be an interesting exercise in choice for a primitive tulpa that isn't exactly vocal but also isn't exactly non-responsive.
Avatar
Could be interesting. It might be a lot of work to make the game though.
Avatar
It could be done with rudimentary coding in java or c, I think.
8:39 PM
A mixture of mad lib and text based choose your own adventure.
8:39 PM
However to make it any sort of engaging you may have to fit the tulpa into some assumptions like "has two eyes"

There are some older languages which support context. You can tell them "Water is wet", " The ocean is made of water" and then ask "Is the ocean wet?". Seems to be suited for this scenario
Avatar
Prolog. Super old fashioned ai (edited)

Deleted User 6/24/2018 9:14 PM
That's the one
9:15 PM
Chinese room ai maybe and even that would be a stretch.
Avatar
that would be cool I wonder if there might be anything open source that could be adapted

bduddy #Diana# 6/25/2018 2:30 AM
Hmm. That reminds me of a board game we played when Diana was just vocal. It was called Tales of the Arabian Nights and mostly took the form of scenario > choice. She had fun and says it was useful. Something like that?
Avatar
@bduddy #Diana# that would be cool I've just been having a hard time getting to proper mind voice so something that could work with a simple A B or C would be nice
Avatar
Pokemon?
Avatar
that could work I haven't really tried any except the gamecube one
Avatar
Pokemon XD?
Avatar
There's a Pokemon game for Gamecube..?
Avatar
the one with the metal arm guy
Avatar
Yes. I would recommend a main series game for this.
5:09 AM
You mean Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, I think.
Avatar
That does not help me at all .-.
5:10 AM
Oh, there is. Thank you, Harleen.
Avatar
well last time I played it I rented it when it was relatively new
5:11 AM
but ya I think it was xd the wind of darkness thing sounds right (edited)
Avatar
You could ask simple questions. "Would you like me to catch this pokemon?" "Move A, B, C, or D?" "Which pokemon should I throw out next? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6?"
Avatar
so like system plays pokemon
Avatar
I do not know what that is, but sure.
Avatar
I'm not sure if I'm at that stage yet to get reactions that fast
Avatar
How long have you been forcing?
Avatar
it was a joke/reference to twitch play pokemon
Avatar
Alright.
Avatar
about 4 years
Avatar
I see. Have you been forcing consistently?
Avatar
mostly like 30 minutes and lately 45 minutes everyday if not that I get multiple 5 minute sessions (edited)
Avatar
I see, and you've done this daily for four years?
Avatar
plus active forcing as much as possible
Avatar
I see.
Avatar
near daily for 2 years and a little bit when I couldn't find time after about a year
Avatar
I see. Can you respond in tulpish to each other?
Avatar
pretty much year 1 super serious if inconsistent second you not so serious very inconsistent and the last 2 mainly staying on top of things
5:19 AM
I get stuff that I'm pretty sure is her but it's rare for real mind voice (edited)
Avatar
I see. Does she respond with your own voice often?
Avatar
I do get stuff that I don't think is just intrusive thoughts and every once in a while I get things that seems almost half imposed that I can only link to Hanna
Avatar
I remember times where, with a lack of any other vocal signature, my voice sounded like my host's vocal signature.
Avatar
Likewise, Jasper.
Avatar
But the word choice and the tone and everything else was so distinct that it was hard for him to notice.
Avatar
I do wonder if she speaks in your own mindvoice often enough.
Avatar
I've tried pretty much every guide( the one grand canyon one where you echo her seems the best so far) only thing that Ihavent tried is drugs and metaphysics, well as far as I'm aware (edited)
5:29 AM
the best recent exchange we had was I said "hello / hello Hanna" she said "hi" back that kind of took me by surprise so I said "that actually sounded pretty good" and she responded "of course"
Avatar
The host vocal signature is almost the most recognizable vocal signature to use. It's the voice by definition you create in speaking any language, so it prpobably is a default in the mind too.
Avatar
I think I was too excited after that to hear any more
Avatar
Aww, that is nice. My first real recognized communication with my host was in English, too, before we just used thoughts and before we just stopped needing too much communication at all
Avatar
the only problem I have with the internal-external kind of "blips" I get is that I don't think she can respond with them that I know of
5:36 AM
like I just got one that sounded like "hello" but it might be all I get for a while
5:37 AM
unless that's what it sounds/feels like to have someone else talks in your head (edited)
Avatar
I wonder, what exactly do you do when you force? I mean, I'm curious as to the nature of the person who develops for four years in this manner. That is nearly my age.
5:56 AM
Or, maybe, what is your tulpa's personality like?
Avatar
bduddy #Diana# 6/25/2018 6:58 AM
So @Aren you heard her. And then you say you got too excited. So... Did you try again later? The next day? It should be much easier once you know what you're talking to.
Avatar
@bduddy #Diana# I did try try again afterwards but i was at work and it was during a break so I didn't too long to focus on hearing her again
Avatar
@Jas What I do when I force really depends on how well I can visualize that day on good days we go on adventures, try to work on Hanna's development, or work on the wonderland a bit but since I got a more demanding job I'm having trouble getting in good forcing especially without getting tired enough that foring turns into uncontrolled dreaming(even sitting up) so that is probly playing a factor in not being able to visualize as easy. As for Hanna's personality I went more broad such as curious, kind , creative (I had more of them written down but I can't find them right now) but from what I have been able to gather she likes the color orange and liking the cute little jumping spiders again lost notes with little time
Avatar
bduddy #Diana# 6/25/2018 3:28 PM
What about after work? The next day?
Avatar
I normally try to force after work since I work early so the risk of falling asleep makes forcing even with an alarm tricky, as of late end up forcing just before bed due to family I have heard that the sooner you force after waking up the better maybe I'll have to start going to bed sooner so I can force in the morning
Avatar
@bduddy #Diana# oh uh I can't remember what I did after that I doubt I forgot about it later it was the highlight of my day I remember that (edited)
Avatar
bduddy #Diana# 6/25/2018 11:13 PM
Well... When stuff happens, try to follow it up.
11:13 PM
And I would recommend keeping a diary/log.
Avatar
ya I think I'll try that but to be fair the thing I mentioned was a couple months ago
Avatar
I guess my question is more like, this personality has had so much time to be exposed to such a broad range of stimuli, it should be almost as fully fledged as any tulpa of 2 active years would be. If not more.
1:47 AM
I have no doubt you have noticed her personality changing into something more organic and less strictly categorized within whatever descriptive terms you started with, right?
Avatar
I thought of a way that might help people distinguish mindvoices, provided that their systemmate is vocal and sentient. The host could think a certain thought, ask their thoughtform to repeat that thought, then identify differences. Would that be helpful?
Avatar
Ruethus the Silver Sorceror 6/26/2018 2:59 AM
It's possible
Avatar
Well, if it were just the copy of the same thought, there may not be differences
3:07 AM
However, normally a tulpa's pattern of thinking, the signature underlying how their thoughts are structured, is distinct enough from the host to be seen as alien to them.
